Testing Our Sailing School Program at Costa Palmas

This past week marked a significant milestone for our Sailing School Program at Costa Palmas as we took our six new RS Tera boats out onto the ocean. It was a picture-perfect day, with gentle 10-knot winds blowing from the East – the ideal conditions for our inaugural voyage.

Tailored for ages 8 to 16, our partnership with an accredited US Sailing school ensures that our program maintains top-notch instruction and safety standards. Students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sailing while basking in the beauty of the tranquil waters surrounding Costa Palmas. This sailing camp is designed to cater to kids and teens with minimal or no experience, promising unforgettable memories and valuable skills that will last a lifetime.

Francesca and Clarisa, from the Costa Palmas Yacht Club, alongside Jackson Willett from Newport Coast Maritime Academy, observed from the shore as Paula, our Sailing Instructor, and a brave student set sail.

As we anticipate the arrival of our young sailors, we are excited for the adventures that await us. The sea beckons, inviting us to embark on a journey of discovery, learning, and boundless joy. With our team fully equipped and primed, we stand ready to set sail and create unforgettable memories on the Sea of Cortez!

Meet Paula, our Sailing School Instructor

Paula, originally from Medellín, Colombia, brings a wealth of experience to our program. As a former high-performance athlete of the Antioquia-Colombian Sailing Team, she boasts extensive knowledge in sailing, kitesurfing, and coaching. In recent years, Paula served as the Head Coach of the Antioquia Sailing Team, achieving remarkable success with two gold medals in the National Games. Additionally, she has lent her expertise as a Coach at both the Rush Creek Yacht Club Summer Camp and the Key Biscayne Summer Camp.

Throughout her sailing career, Paula has competed in numerous international championships, including the ISAD Youth Worlds Laser in Dublin, Ireland, and the IODA Campeonato Sudamericano de Optimist at the Salinas Yacht Club in Ecuador, among others.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of the inaugural Junior Sailing Program at Costa Palmas! It’s truly an honor to share my passion with the next generation of sailors right here, amid the excitement of the Sea of Dreams”

We look forward to welcoming our young members aboard for a summer of learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences.
