Citrus Hibiscus Margarita

Next time you pull up a seat at the members-only beach bar at Costa Palmas ask your favorite bartender (Victor or Gabriel) for a Citrus Hibiscus Margarita. A delicious and refreshing take on the traditional margarita, the citrus Hibiscus Margarita utilizes the syrup made from the flor de jamaica. This edible flower is a delicacy in Mexico used for teas, desserts and more.

– 2 oz Tequila blanco
– 1 oz Cointreau liqueur
– 1/2 oz lime juice
– 5 Purple basil leaves
– 2 oz Hibiscus syrup
– Orange peel
– Lemon peel
– Grapefruit peel
– Star Anise
– Hibiscus flower
– Agave syrup

In a Boston shaker, add all of the ingredients over ice and shake well. Salt the rim of the glasses with hibiscus and chile ancho salt. Add 3 ice cubes and garnish with sun-dried pineapple and a branch of fresh thyme.

Relax, indulge and enjoy!
